Sports Injuries
We’ve been taking a holistic approach to sports injury since 1985, and can tailor a chiropractic care plan to suit your needs, so you can be one step closer to lifetime health and wellness. Our team at Rollette Chiropractic Center offer professional athletes and weekend athletes an option to better manage sports injuries. One that is safe, non-invasive, and effective for all ages.
Injuries & Strain
Any repetitive motion, such as throwing or kicking a ball, running, or making contact with another athlete or object, has the potential to damage joints and surrounding tissues. In addition, accidents happen frequently in sports. Rollette Chiropractic Center offers Hammond-area athletes an option for management of sports injuries that is safe, non-invasive, and effective.
techniques, rehabilitation & prevention
Participation in sports whether it be competitively or at home can lead to strains, sprains and stress on an athlete’s body; therefore, It is important to pair physical therapy for sports related injuries with regular chiropractic adjustments at Rollette Chiropractic Center.
Some techniques our team uses to care for patients include:
- Chiropractic Adjustments or manipulations of the spine help realign vertebrae and relieve pressure on the nerve, which alleviates pain and allows the body to function better.
- Massage Therapy relieves stiff muscles, improves blood flow, and provides fast pain relief.
- Epley Maneuver restores equilibrium of the vestibular system.
The Epley Maneuver is an exercise involving a series of head movements performed to treat benign paroxysmal positional vertigo by moving crystals out of the posterior canal (the most sensitive part of the ear.) Vertigo describes the feeling of dizziness and nausea that one may experience when there is debris in the ear. Some may describe it by saying, “it feels like the room is spinning” or that they are spinning.
Neck and lower back injuries are common in sports due to repetitive movements involved in activities, such as lifting weights, running, tumbling, or swimming. Whether a neck injury (whiplash) occurs through contact with an opponent or a pinched nerve occurs due to spine injury, our team will create a tailored full rehabilitation program to reduce pain and restore your health so you can be active again.
Common sports injuries include neck injuries and pinched nerves, which may cause symptoms, such as:
- Swelling
- Burning, dull pain
- Headaches
- Muscle Pains
- Inflammation
- Muscle Spasms
Chiropractic care is not only effective for managing injuries, but it is also excellent for optimizing an athlete’s performance and preventing injury. By increasing range of motion, strength and flexibility through daily stretching techniques, proper form, and warm-ups, chiropractic care can help prevent an injury. Understanding the neuromusculoskeletal system and regularly adjusting it can not only increase performance, but prevent breakdown of an athlete’s body. When an athlete experiences full mobility with no stiffness, this increase their chance of performing at their full potential.
